White, red and rosé wines with the Colli Trevigiani PGI must be obtained from grapes originating from vineyards, in a business environment, with one or more red/white grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area.
Description of product typologies
Colli Trevigiani PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is yellow in colour, varying in depth depending on the grape variety used, with pale and straw-yellow hues and greenish highlights; the nose displays typical notes of the grape varieties and is sometimes distinguished by floral notes; it is reminiscent of structured wines on the palate, with marked sapidity and persistence in the flavour. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine. Colli Trevigiani PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is characterised by a pale red colour that intensifies to become ruby-red and, at times, garnet; depending on the areas and grape varieties, the nose can at times be more characterised by hints of fruit and fruits of the forest or by grassy notes; depending on the grape varieties, the fruity notes return on the palate, and the degree of maturation determines the structure and sapid consistence. It can also be Semi-Sparkling and Novello wine. Colli Trevigiani PGI Rosé, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pink in colour, varying in intensity; it displays delicate fruity fragrances on the nose; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine.
Grape variety specifications
The Colli Trevigiani PGI, with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Province of Treviso, is reserved for wines that are obtained from grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, for at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. Grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%, can contribute, pure or combined, to the production of the above-mentioned musts and wines. In the preparation of Cabernet wine, grapes from the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère grape varieties may be used, singularly or combined.The Colli Trevigiani PGI with the specification of one or two of the grape varieties can also be produced as Semi-Sparkling and Novello wines, the latter being produced exclusively with red grape varieties. Colli Trevigiani PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the grape variety, as well as the indicated characteristics for the typology of wine.
