The Colli del Limbara PGI is reserved for the following typologies of wine: White, Red, Rosé and Novello. The Indication also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.

The production area of Colli del Limbara PGI is within the territory of 24 municipalities in the Province of Sassari in the Sardinia region.
Blends
White, red and rosé wines with the Colli del Limbara PGI must be obtained from grapes originating from vineyards, in a business environment, with one or more red/white grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area.
Description of product typologies
Colli del Limbara PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, rangesfrom paper white to amber yellow in colour gold; it offers varying degrees of fruity and floral fragrances on the nose, based on which grape varieties are used; on the palate it is dry to sweet, fresh and with a slightly fruity flavour. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine. Colli del Limbara PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, ranges from ruby-red to almost garnet in colour, varying in intensity with aging; it is delicate on the nose, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit, hues of spices and aromatic herbs and aromatic elegance deriving from the grape varieties used; it is dry to sweet on the palate, sapid and sometimes with evident tannins. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine. Colli del Limbara PGI Rosé, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pink to cherry-pink in colour; it displays delicate fruity fragrances; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate, with the characteristics of the grape variety of origin. It can also be a Semi-Sparkling wine. Colli del Limbara PGI Novello, alone or with specification of grape variety, ranges from red with purple reflections to ruby-red in colour; the fragrance is characteristic of the grape variety used; it is dry to sweet and mouth-filling on the palate.
Grape variety specifications
The Colli del Limbara PGI, with specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Sardinia region, excluding the Cannonau, Carignano, Girò, Malvasia, Monica, Muscat, Nasco, Nuragus, Semidano, Vermentino and Vernaccia varieties, is reserved for wines that obtained from grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, for at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. Grapes similar in colour from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the region, max. 15%, can contribute, pure or combined, to the production of the above-mentioned musts and wines. The Colli del Limbara PGI with indication of two or three grape varieties, is reserved for wines obtained from corresponding grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, on the condition that the wine derives exclusively from the indicated grapes, and that the quantity of grapes produced by each of the two is higher than 15% of the total. Colli del Limbara PGI wines with specification of red grape varieties may also be produced as Semi-Sparkling and Novello. Colli del Limbara PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the grape variety, as well as the indicated characteristics for the typology of wine.
