The production area of Bolgheri Sassicaia PDO is within parts of the territory of Castagneto Carducci in the Province of Livorno, in the Tuscany region.
Blends
Red: minimum 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, pure or with the addition of grape berries similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Tuscany region, up to a maximum of 20%.
Description of product typologies
Bolgheri Sassicaia PDO has an intense garnet to ruby-red colour; the nose is characterised by aromas of red fruits, opening up to reveal sweet spices, brushwood, tobacco, leather and chocolate; you can perceive the silkiness on the palate, but also fine, elegant tannins with a long and complex finish and acidity of great complex. Bolgheri Sassicaia PDO can only be made available for consumption after it has aged for at least two years, starting from January 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced, of which at least 18 months must have been spent in french oak barrels with a capacity of no more than 225 litres.
